A permanent home — built with a full hempcrete shell
The Inspiré 30 m² Compact House is a complete, year-round home designed for the Nordic climate. The entire building shell — walls, floor and roof — is constructed from 22 cm hempcrete, a natural material made from industrial hemp and lime. The load-bearing structure uses timber-based I-joists from Masonite Beams, a system that uses less material than traditional timber construction and minimises thermal bridging. Together, these two systems create a home that is structurally sound, highly energy-efficient and deeply comfortable to live in.
The house is designed by award-winning architect Jørgen Tycho of Oslo Tre, recognised as one of Norway's most innovative architects for his work with low-impact, resource-efficient building systems. His approach — focused on proportion, light and spatial quality — means the Compact House feels significantly larger than its footprint suggests.

Unlike most small-scale homes on the market, the Inspiré 30 m² Compact House is designed for permanent use — not seasonal or recreational living. The insulation levels, construction and technical systems are developed specifically to meet the demands of a Nordic winter while maintaining a comfortable, stable indoor environment throughout the year.
An open layout combined with an elevated ceiling height creates a strong sense of space. The ground floor includes kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living area, while the loft adds an additional sleeping space. Every part of the layout is designed to be used — with no wasted area.

The walls, floor and roof are all built from hempcrete — not as an added insulation layer, but as the complete building envelope. Hempcrete offers a combination of properties no conventional material can match on its own:

The Inspiré 30 m² Compact House is available in configurations designed to fit the regulatory frameworks for small-scale permanent homes in both Sweden and Norway. Depending on your location and local planning rules, the house can be configured with a footprint of 30 or 50 m², and with a ceiling height of 4 or 4.5 metres — ensuring you make the most of what the regulations allow, wherever you are building.
